Paste events
We count every paste, measure the size and store a small excerpt of the largest paste. The strongest signal: was this written in the editor — or pasted from outside?
AI assistant use
How many times did the pupil use the built-in AI assistant? A high count is not necessarily cheating — but it gives context to the conversation.
Spell-check use
How often was spell-check triggered? Combined with editor edits, it shows how much the pupil actually wrote themselves.
Teachers & parents can see it
Originality data appears in SpeedGrader, in the parent's productivity overview and in the class collaboration analytics — for the adults already responsible for the pupil's learning.
The pupil cannot see it
Strict access policies ensure pupils can never see their own paste excerpts or suspicious flags. No public 'cheating score', no blocking, no automated accusations.

Why not a GPTZero classifier?
Statistical AI detectors such as GPTZero guess whether a text is AI-generated — with a high error rate and false positives that can hit innocent pupils. We have a stronger advantage: all writing happens in our own editor. A large paste is a fact-based signal — not a statistical guess. It's fairer and more accurate.
Frequently asked questions
Are pupils blocked if they paste?
No. We never block. The teacher sees the signal and can have a pedagogical conversation with the pupil — it's a pedagogical tool, not a barrier.
Can the pupil see their own paste excerpt?
No. Database-level access policies ensure only teachers and parents can see the detailed signals.
What about dyslexic pupils using read-aloud?
Read-aloud and speech feedback are not registered as paste. Our accessibility features are designed to support — not flag — pupils with specific needs.
Does this apply to file submissions too?
We only track work done in the platform's own editor (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Draw). External files do not contain session data.
Does it conflict with GDPR?
No. Processing is necessary for the school's lawful task (assessing pupils' work). Pupils and parents are informed in the platform's privacy policy. No PII is shared externally.
